  1. Hi!

I came across your site and I see that you see value in art and healing as well. I am writing on behalf of Astorino, an architecture and design firm. Many of our healthcare projects, including the new Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh incorporate art into the design to enhance the healing experience. In fact, we just wrote a blog entry about it: http://discoverdesignbuild.com/2009/06/the-role-of-the-arts-in-healthcare-and-healing/.

Please let us know what you think!

    Best,
    Lauren

  2. Hi I am both excited and somewhat saddened by your web/blog. You see after years of working with the arts to teach and counsel people I decided to go back and get a degree in Art Therapy. I am now educated as a masters degreed level clinical art therapist. However I find no inclusion of the field of art therapy, which has been doing healing arts for over 50 to 60 years in your discussions. I feel a partnership with this profession would be both professionally approriate and an asset to your programs. Lets get together on this thing.
I actually have an opportunity coming up and would love to duscuss the possibilities with someone in your program. I want to start a program serving our vets that would include art therapists, movement therapists, artists, music therapists etc in a comprehensive arts program to serve some of our vets in a program that has just recently started up in my area. I am so excited about the possibilities!

    • we have art therapy and expressive arts on the blog almost every day.
      thank you for your comment,
thank you for art therapy we are all partners together in this work

  3. Dear Michael,

    What a wonderful blog!

This is not really a comment meant for publication, but i wanted to contact you. I have loved learning about your work. I don’t know if you ever embed videos on your blog, but I have a video I would love to share with your readers for Mother’s Day if you thought it appropriate.

Perfume is an “illustrated moment” about loss and the sweetness of memory.

I’d like this piece to find its way to those for whom it might be meaningful. I would be honored if you would like to embed it on your blog,

To give you a little background, I am an artist and the author or the memoir Riding the White Horse Home and several other books. My most recent book, The Year of Living Virtuously (Weekends Off) will be published by Counterpoint Press next spring.
With the hope that this small piece of work can have an impact, I offer it wholeheartedly.
    Yours sincerely,
    Teresa
